About me
Hello!
I am a neuroscientist, born and raised in Brazil. I have technical training in Biotechnology, a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy & Biochemistry, a master's degree in Biophysics, and a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry. After finishing my Ph.D., I moved to the U.S. in 2017 to work at the Morrison Lab at the California National Primate Research Center. Initially, my primary goal was to help develop novel monkey models of Alzheimer's disease, focusing on the increased translational aspect of the monkey brain to better search for therapies for human neurological conditions. More recently, I have also extended my research interest to understand the neurological consequences of viral infections such as the ones caused by Zika, HIV, and SARS-CoV-2.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel across the globe and attend several Neuroscience Schools and Conferences. Over the last 15 year, I visited more than 20 countries and met several new people that helped me discover new research interests and shape my career future direction. This would not be possible without the generous funding provided by several organizations, such as the International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN), International Brain Organization (IBRO), the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), the Society of Neuroscience (SfN), and many others.
